Volunteer at Camp Bestival
24-29th July 2019
It’s our first year at Camp Bestival and we need Charity Concierges to deliver our festival taxi service on site! You’ll drive a buggy around the site giving people lifts. We have just 24 places at this festival, so register fast!
Camp Bestival concierges need to arrive on site on Wednesday 24 July, for training in the afternoon, and then you’ll work a shift each day from Thursday - Monday.
We’ll pay you £200 for driving at Camp Bestival
Because Camp Bestival drivers are working a shift each day, this year we are offering a stipend payment for each volunteer of £200 - for this festival only. This will be paid to you after the festival when we return your deposit, and is dependent on you turning up and working all your shifts.
WHEN DO YOU NEED ME?
At Camp Bestival, all volunteers must be on site by 12pm on Wednesday 24th July. You'll finish by 2pm on Monday 29th.
WHAT WILL MY SHIFTS BE?
The shifts below are a guide only. In the case of sickness or other unforeseen circumstances we might also ask for a bit of extra help, so we do ask for some flexibility to make the service run as well as is possible!
Volunteers will need to be onsite at 12pm on Wednesday 24th July. You’ll have a briefing, practice some driving and have some time to explore the site and make friends before your shifts start the next morning.
You’ll have one shift each day, Thursday - Monday. Each shift is up to 7 hours (with a break in the middle) and even the very latest shift will be finished by 9pm - so everyone should get the chance to enjoy some decent festival time! Volunteer with friends and we’ll do our very best to put you on the same shifts.
You’ll be finished by 2pm at the latest on Monday 29th July.
WILL IT COST ME ANYTHING?
Although we will provide you with a ticket, uniform and everything you need for your shift, there are costs involved with going to any festival. Because Camp Bestival volunteers are driving each day, we will pay you a stipend of £200 to cover these expenses. This will be paid to you after the festival, when we will also return your deposit.
You will be required to pay a fully refundable deposit of £75 when you register. This secures us against people who want the free ticket but aren't planning to do the work. If you fail to attend all of your shifts without a good reason (e.g. sickness, with a note from the medical centre), or if you are ejected from site by security or the Charity Concierge team, you will lose this deposit and a further £140, and will not receive your stipend payment. For more information see the FAQ.
If you pay the deposit and then cancel before the festival or fail to attend the festival, you will not receive your stipend payment and we are under no obligation to return your £75 deposit. (See FAQ.)
Travel to and from the festival will be your own responsibility. We will do everything we can to help you to organise it and give you all the information you need, however any costs will be down to you.
You need to buy your own food and drink at the festival (or bring it with you).
We will provide you with your Concierge T-Shirt.
You will also need to provide your own tent and festival gear (wellies, warm jumpers, waterproofs etc.).
You must be over the age of 18 on the starting date of the event. Please do not register if you will not be 18 at this time.
More information about your specific shifts, what to do when you arrive on site, the camping arrangements and what to bring with you will be released closer to the festival. If you have any questions not related to these things, you can get in touch with Holly on 07751 768207 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Follow the link below to register for Camp Bestival. You will be taken to the main Child.org website, where we will take a £75 deposit and some personal information.
All details submitted to Child.org will be shared with Festival Republic, in order to issue your festival tickets.
